37 years ago this week, the Hard ‘N’ Heavy “Metal of Honor” was released!

On July 14, 1986, TT Quick released their seventh full-length album, “Metal of Honor” via Island Records.

Overview:

The bands 1986 release, "Metal of Honor" is an example of classic 80's Heavy Metal. On one hand, TT Quick had been slated as America’s answer to German Metallers Accept. While, on the other hand, trend-hoppers had accused them of being late to the game, due to their hard as iron Heavy Metal sound in a climate where Glam Metal was taking center-stage. The worst of all are the “modern day” Metal elitists who mock the album with comments like “this band borderlines the utterly ridiculous” or “this band is so cheesy”. News flash to you all, every band in existence borders on the cheesy or cliche at some point. And, the truth is that by todays standards, “Metal of Honor” might just border slightly on the side of cheese, but it’s still a fun album that I have a damned good time listening to.

Mark Tornillo had grit and the band had balls!

Tracks like the title track are impressively  crunchy and aggressive, so It's a saddening to see that the band and this album has not received the proper recognition that it deserves. Sure, this release sounds a lot like Accept, but "Metal of Honor" would be the album where the world first heard the talents of Mark Tornillo, who now fronts said band. — E.N. Wells

TT Quick Biography:

The band started on the highly competitive New Jersey bar band cover music circuit. In 1983 Jon Zazula began the iconic Megaforce Records label, signing TT Quick, along with Metallica, Anthrax and Overkill and several others. The band would release their eponymous debut EP on the Megaforce Records subsidiary Avalanche imprint in 1984 after which drummer Glenn Evans left to join Nuclear Assault. In 1985, TT Quick contributed the non-EP cut "A Wing & A Prayer" to the From The Megavault Megaforce compilation. The highly regarded Metal Of Honor album with Erik Ferro on drums would follow in 1986.

Following a lull of several years the reunion release “Sloppy Seconds” would debut on the Halycon label in 1989 to be followed by the “Thrown Together Live” opus in 1992. A breakup and reunion would produce the CD entitled “Ink” in 2000.

Guitarist Dave DiPietro would join Halycon label mates Prophet on their 1991 release “Recycled” before reuniting with Glenn Evans in Nuclear Assault and appearing on 1993's “Something Wicked” as well as touring the U.S. and Europe in support of the album.

Recognized as outstanding players, guitarist Dave DiPietro in particular stood out as a mentor to Zakk Wylde and Dave Sabo who would later star with Ozzy Osbourne and SKID ROW respectively.
