As insignificant as promo’s may seem to some, this promo meant everything to me at the time it was handed to me by Doug Earp at Wyatt Earp Records in Flint, Michigan. Not only did this album contain the latest tracks from Benediction, Hypocrisy, Dismember, and Pungent Stench, this disc also introduced me to Brutality, Amorphis, Sinister, Master, Macabre, Mortification, and Fetish 69. Doug had a knack for pointing Metalheads in the proper direction for new music, and when I asked if he had any suggestions, he gave me this disc to check out.
Many of the albums had already been released at this point but as you can see by the promo insert that came with the disc, some of them, including; Dismember’s Indecent and Obscene, and Brutality’s Screams of Anguish (titled Torture here). Many of the band’s (then) upcoming releases were as of yet untitled, including; Hypocrisy, Mortification, and Sinister.
I later returned to purchase many of these albums after they were released and I still have a few of the original cassette releases, along with many of them on CD, which I later purchased to replace the cassette tapes.
