26 years ago this week, we experienced β€œVisions of Malice” on β€œIn Cold Blood”!



On June 24, 1997, Malevolent Creation released their fifth full-length studio album, "In Cold Blood" via Pavement Music.


Produced by Scott Burns, β€œIn Cold Blood” is the second and last studio album to feature bassist Jason Blachowicz on vocals, as original vocalist Brett Hoffmann (R.I.P.) had returned for the following album, β€œThe Fine Art of Murder”(1998). Jason Blachowicz was also replaced for the follow-up by Gordon Simms on bass.


As was the case on "Eternal (1995)", "In Cold Blood" was recorded as a four-piece. In addition to Blachowicz on bass and vocals, the band consist of guitarist and main composer Phil Fasciana, guitarist John Paul Soars and drummer Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal, Aurora Borealis, Blotted Science, Council Of The Fallen). The two latter mentioned are new in the lineup replacing guitarist Jon Rubin and drummer Dave Culross (who had joined Suffocation for a short time).


"In Cold Blood" continues down the same path as "Eternal (1995)". The music is more brutal and less Thrash-laden compared to the bands first three releases, although Jason Blachowicz’s vocal style is quite different than Brett Hoffmann’s more brutal growls. But, the bands trademarked aggression and merciless riffing are still present.
