FROM THE CRYPTS - CELEBRATING PAST ALBUM RELEASES in the HISTORY of HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL…
On November 25, 2005, Falkenbach released their fourth full-length studio album Heralding - The Fireblade via Napalm Records.
(Digipak Edition)
This record is made up of songs originally intended to be the band's first album, Fireblade*, which was shelved in 1995.
For the 15-year anniversary of the band, the tracks were finally re-recorded (using the same session musicians as on Ok nefna tysvar Ty). This meant a somewhat hybrid album that to the delight of their early fans had more of the black spirit of the legendary first full-length …En their medh riki fara… (1996), but also featured the matured Pagan Metal sound, which Falkenbach had gained over the course of their following two albums.
The LP version, limited to 1,000 copies, was released in 2006 by No Colours Records with the first 300 in transparent clear vinyl.
(2006 No Colours LP & Digibook Cover)
*In 1995, recording of the debut album “Fireblade” began, but due to equipment troubles, production was stopped shortly before mixing began.
Critical Reception:
In a review for Last Rites, Chris Chellis wrote;
“If I had the opportunity to change my top ten of 2005, I’d rank Falkenbach’s Heralding – The Fireblade somewhere in my top 3. The guitar work is catchy as all hell, the vocals are amazing, the lyrics are incredibly well thought out, and, damn it, even the band logo is sweet. If you’re a fan of either Folk or Black Metal, I better see this release in your collection, and soon.”
