Electric Boys - The Ghost Ward Diaries (2018)

FROM THE CRYPTS - CELEBRATING PAST ALBUM RELEASES in the HISTORY of HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL…

On November 23, 2018, the Electric Boys released their sixth full-length studio album The Ghost Ward Diaries in via Mighty Music/Targets.

Background:

The band released the single Suffer in March 2018 and in August the news came that the Danish label Mighty Music landed the distribution deal regarding the bands then-new album titled The Ghost War Diaries that was released on November 23, 2018 in CD, vinyl and digital format.

Vocalist Conny Bloom described the album as “different” and “full of fun”. The first music video from the album, Hangover In Hannover, was released in late September 2018.

Lyric wise it’s a bit darker than before; little diaries from times on the road and the struggle in between.” — Connie Bloom

Electric Boys have always been a band with a unique sound and style, from powerful riffs to the funk stylings of the 70s, the Sleaze Rockers were standouts among their Glam brethren of the late 80’s scene. With The Ghost Ward Diaries the Boys are back into full swing. And as expected, the album has a strong blend of Funk, Rock and Metal… in places, the Electric Boys have even been compared by some to a mashup between Living Colour, Raging Slab and Spin Doctors (I haven’t quite figured out that comparison yet).

We like guitar riffs, strong hooks and heavy grooves, performed on analog instruments. I guess you’d call it classic rock.” so said the opening line in the press release for the album The Ghost Ward Diaries from Stockholm’s Electric Boys.

And hooks a plenty it has. As The Ghost Ward Diaries is chocked full of catchy tunes, featuring horn sections and funky grooves throughout. On The Ghost Ward Diaries, the Funk-O-Metallers are unrestrained, hold nothing back as they deliver, yet another fun, funky, Hard Rockin’ good time!

In October 2018, the video for the song Hungover in Hannover was unveiled and the band followed the release with a tour in Spain, France and Germany. The Scandinavian part of the tour began in Malmo, Sweden (with Abramis Brama as support) and the day before the band performed in Hamburg Germany which was the only show in Germany in 2018 for the band.

About Electric Boys:

Formed in Stockholm in 1988, Electric Boys is a band with roots in 70s Groove Rock and 60s Pop and Psychedelia. Their critically acclaimed debut album, Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride was produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi, The Cult, Motley Crue).

The album spawned the self-produced Billboard Top 20 single, All Lips ’N' Hips that got them heavy rotation on MTV.

After extensive touring, the band entered legendary studio Abbey Road to record the follow-up Groovus Maximus.

Groovus Maximus gave the band another Billboard Top 30 single with the song, Mary In The Mystery World.

The bands third album Freewheelin' (also recorded in Abbey Road) peaked at No. 16 on the Official Swedish Album Chart before the band called it a day in 1994.

Guitarist and lead singer, Conny Bloom went solo until he, as well as bassist Andy Christell, joined legendary Glamsters Hanoi Rocks in 2005.

In 2009 they began the process of reuniting the Electric Boys. They then released the album, And Them Boys Done Swang in 2011.

The Electric Boys later released the critically acclaimed fan favorite Starflight United in 2014.

In all the years, the band has toured relentlessly opening for the likes of Metallica, Alice Cooper, Mr Big, Hardline, Vixen and Thunder.
