On this day (June 24) in 2014, Devangelic released their debut full-length studio album “Resurrection Denied” via Comatose Music.

Background:

Hailing from the “holy” city of Rome, the blasphemous creation known as Devangelic (featuring members from Putridity, Vulvectomy, and Coprophiliac) completed the songs for their debut album “Resurrection Denied” in 2013. Recorded at 16th Cellar Studio’s, the album contains nine tracks of incandescent Death Metal, influenced by the likes of Disgorge, Gorgasm and Condemned.

The band have described “Resurrection Denied” as inexorable guttural brutality against everything that is deemed sacred! The albums artwork was created by Toshihiro Egawa, who amazing works have graced the album covers of such bands as; Abigail Williams, Deeds of Flesh, Cryptopsy, Defeated Sanity, Devourment, and many more…

Overview:

For “Resurrection Denied”, Devangelic play blistering Death Metal, honed by the savage, traditional Death Metal blasts of drummer Alessandro “Venders” Santilli’s, and the blazing riffs of guitarist Mario di Giambattista. Three of the album’s most incensed and unrestrained cuts are; “Unfathomed Evisceration”, “Crown of Entrails” and “Perished Through Atonement”, which you will find to be some of the most vehemently violent and sacrilegious slabs of Death Metal to ever penetrate your skulls. — E.N. Critical Reception:

Upon its release, “Resurrection Denied” was embraced by both, fans and critics as perhaps one the genres most brutal albums. In a review for Metal-observer.com, Evan Mugford wrote;

“Turn up the volume. Nail down the furniture. Go find some Band-Aids. DEVANGELIC’s “Resurrection Denied” is a legit beast that will be on the short-list of Brutal Death Metal contenders in 2014. ”

While wonderboxmetal.com claimed that;

“Resurrection Denied” is a prime slice of bloody Death Metal that should have fans of brutality and sickness foaming at the mouth at the thought of the hideous occurrences they bring.”

“It’s hard not to like an album as remorselessly, efficiently brutal as this. I’d recommend this. Play it loud and absorb the ugly menace within.”

Resurrection Denied Tour 2014:

Devangelic toured Italy, the US and later, the rest of Europe in support of “Resurrection Denied”. This tour included the “Nice To Eat You Deathfest” (in Italy), the Comatour (June 6-20, with Lust of Decay & Coathanger Abortion), the “Phoenix Deathfest”, and the “Las Vegas Deathfest VI” in the US. While touring for the Brutality Over Europe Fest, they played the “Unholy Brutal Fest IV” (with To Feed of Flesh & Bloodtruth), “Monthly Assault’s Autumn Autopsy” (with Antropofagus, Bloodtruth, Indecent Excision, Mastication of Brutality Uncontrolled, Defaced & To Feed of Flesh), “NRW Deathfest”, “Carnage Feast”, “Lowlands Deathfest”, and “Interiora Horror Fest” in Europe.
