27 years ago today, we were given “Deeds of Flesh” as “Impious Offerings”!

On this day (July 8 ) in 1996, Deeds of Flesh released their first full-length studio album, “Trading Pieces” via (the now defunct) Repulse Records.

The Wells Perspective:

Deeds of Flesh had first introduced their brand of odious Death Metal to their unwary prey with 1995's “Gradually Melted” EP.

Delivering the deathblow with their full-length debut, “Trading Pieces”, Deeds of Flesh advanced with an overwhelming offensive, delivering a barrage of merciless Brutal Death so intense that many would surrender to its inexorable oppression.

Trading Pieces is an extraordinarily fierce album created to surround the listener with an all encompassing shroud of draconian animus. Governed violently by gruesome lyrics, Deeds of Flesh hack their way through 11 songs of grotesquely abhorrent brutality. Made all the more impressive by the bands show of technical prowess, “Trading Pieces” was a grand spectacle of imposing and unrelenting savagery. — E.N. Wells
