Comecon — Megatrends in Brutality

𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐑𝐘𝐏𝐓𝐒 - 𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐁𝐔𝐌 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐨𝐟  𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐊 & 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐕𝐘 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐋

August 1992 — Comecon released their debut full-length studio album, Megatrends in Brutality via Century Media Records. (Spotify)

Background:

Comecon was a Swedish Death Metal project founded in 1990. The band consisted of two guitarists, a drum computer and a session singer; a different one on each album.

Megatrends in Brutality featured Lars Göran Petrov on vocals, who was then dismissed from Entombed. It is the only album of the three Comecon releases to feature Petrov, as their vocal lineup revolved on for every release. Their second album featured Martin van Drunen (Asphyx), and Marc Grewe, from Morgoth handled the vocals on their final album. Megatrends in Brutality was produced by Tomas Skogsberg (as were the following releases), and was recorded at Sunlight Studio.

Contrary to the album credits, the drums were recorded using a drum computer; Anders Green who is listed as a drummer does not exist. The photograph shows an unrecognizable friend of the band. The order of the tracks on the album sleeve is wrong; the correct order is shown below.

Track Listing in Proper Order:

1. The Dog-days

2. Wash away the Filth

3. Slope

4. Teuton Tantrums

5. The Mule

6. Armed Solution

7. The Future Belongs to Us

8. Conductor of Ashes

9. Good Boy Benito

10. Omnivorous Excess

11. Ulcer
