Brujeria - Brujerizmo (2000)

FROM THE CRYPTS - CELEBRATING PAST ALBUM RELEASES in the HISTORY of HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL…

On November 7, 2000, Brujeria released their third full-length studio album Brujerizmo via Roadrunner Records.

Brujerizmo featured a more groove-oriented style, with a clear and refined sound as opposed to the Death-Grind style of the previous albums.

Background:

In 2000, 5 years after the last LP, Brujerizmo was released, which incorporated Nicholas Barker as a second drummer, Jesse Pintado (R.I.P.) on the guitar and Gaby Dominguez, as Pititis, who represents a female demon as the female vocalist.

Critical Reception:

"Machete Death Metal... more venomous and hotter than a Habanero pepper... Juan Brujo's growling political rants strike out against hate, racism and xenophobia." - CMJ (2/12/01, p. 37)

"Wonderfully demented thrash... this is south-of-the-border murderous noise, absolutely bereft of anything approaching accessibility... here's a record your parents will worry about you owning." - Melody Maker (11/28/00, p. 52) - 3.5 stars out of 5

"They take a hyper-violent idea to its logical, bowel-churning and comically thrilling end." - NME (12/9/00, p. 45) - 8 out of 10
