FROM THE CRYPTS - CELEBRATING PAST ALBUM RELEASES in the HISTORY of HARD ROCK & HEAVY METAL…
On November 17, 1996, Madrid Death Metallers Avulsed released their debut full-length studio album Eminence in Putrescence via Repulse Records.
Background:
On their debut album Eminence in Putrescence, the band displays a pure Death Metal sound, mixing heavy riffs with melodic runs. Leading up to it’s release, the band had honed their musical style through various demos, including; Embalmed in Blood (1992), Deformed Beyond Belief (1993) and Promo '95 (1995), and a 7" EP Carnivoracity (1994).
For Eminence in Putrescence, the gore and violence that was so prominent on the bands demos is now featured with a better production without sacrificing the essence of Avulsed. Submerged by the ultra-gore filled vocals of Dave Rotten, with complex music, jazzy bass-lines care of bassist Lucky, low tuned guitars, and the crazy guitar arpeggios of Juancar & Cabra; the album starts out with Hidden Perversions with its massive use of Furni’s bass drum. The riffs are choppy on the rhythm section, creating an obscure sound of perverse disharmony in a way that only Avulsed could achieve. There are a lot of breaks in which some more melodic parts enter to create a great balance between the gore elements and the more accessible passages. A great and interesting album for anyone into old-school Death Metal.
